When you take a vacation or head away on business you will want to find the cheapest flights available and the best way in which you can do just that is by using the internet to its full potential. I quit my job 2 years ago to become a digital nomad, the best decision that I have ever made, and for that reason I have spent a great deal of time trying too minimize how much I spend on flights. My buddy Bharat Bhise has been a digital nomad for longer than I have and I has helped me immeasurably when it comes to saving on flights, and here is how you can too.
Using Aggregators
When you know your destination and your date of travel don’t bother going to an airline’s website, instead head to a flight aggregator like Skyscanner or Momondo who will have already done the hard work for you. All you need to do is search for the flights available to your destination on the dates that you have decided on, and the aggregator will search the web to deliver you the lowest prices around. These sites check both the airlines and 3rd party companies for the best flight prices.
Following Blogs and Social Media
There are some very savvy people out there who have launched their own blogs and social media pages which are committed to showing you the very best deals of the day. These guys and gals will search through airlines and flight prices each day, looking for tariff errors or to find you the cheapest route to get from A to B. These blogs and pages are free to view and if you follow them each day you are going to find some absolutely incredible offers.
Online Credit Card Deals
It goes without saying that you should have a credit card which earns you air miles or points which you can put towards low cost flights, and you also need to be vigilant online to maximize this opportunity. Very often you’ll see deals on certain products which have multiplying points rewards, and you should be making the most of this. In many cases you can buy a product on your credit card, enjoy the free 25,000 points or whatever the offer may be, and then simply sell the product on if you aren’t interested in keeping it. There are deals to be found all over the internet, simply keep checking the website of your credit card provider and make sure that you are doing all you can to get your hands on those valuable points.
VPN Search
Whilst it isn’t always the case, very often people in the country where the airline is from are given lower prices than those outside. To help you get these exclusive prices all you need is a piece of software called a VPN which will change the IP address of your server to one from the country which you are searching for. If you are looking for KLM flights for example, set your VPN to the Netherlands and see if you can’t get some lower prices.
Follow these tips and save big when booking flights online.
