Many people were into living in big cities, going out and meeting new people, partying etc. when they were younger, but as they get into their 30s and 40s they realize that they would much rather just live a quiet, simple, and happy life with their family. If this is something you can relate to, you may be wondering just how you can make it happen. Perhaps you are still living in a bustling city, or you can’t seem to get out of constant social commitments.
Either way, you’re probably going to have to make a few changes to your lifestyle if you want your home life to be different. The good news is that this doesn’t have to be difficult or stressful, you just need a few pointers. Here are 3 tips for living a more simple home life.
Invest In Farm Animals
If you have the space or yard for it and it is within the rules set by your HOA, having farm animals is an excellent idea because it will help simplify your family’s life and will save you money too! Chickens are inexpensive, low maintenance and easy to care for, and they will provide you with more fresh eggs than you’ll know what to do with! Goats can help to chew on grass and weeds so that you will have to do less yard work.
Of course, farm animals are not right for every family or every area, but if it is a feasible option for you to add a couple of outdoor helpers, you should look into it. Just make sure to add a wire fence or build a coop as needed to ensure both the safety of your animals and of your neighbors.
Move To The Suburbs
Perhaps one of the first steps you and your family should take if you want to live a more simple life than the one you currently feel stuck in is to move out of the big city and into the suburbs or a more rural and quiet area. If you have the means, it would be smart to buy a home so that you can really settle down and make it your own, but renting is still an option even in rural places.
This is a great way to reconnect with nature, have a nice area to go on long walks with your family or pets, and just quiet your mind in general.
Grow Your Own Food
Much like having a couple of farm animals, building a garden and growing your food is a good way to feel more connected to the earth and simplify your lifestyle. Not only does it give you a constant excuse to go outside, but it can be really fun and fulfilling to watch your plants grow, and you will be amazed at how wonderful fruits and vegetables that grew in your own backyard will taste! Between that and your chicken’s fresh eggs, your trips to the grocery store will really become fewer and further between!
Living a simple life will require you to step out of your comfort zone a bit, but it will definitely be worth it! Hopefully, these tips can help.
