The clear bag policy has essentially been introduced for public safety. Whether you are going to watch a football match, enjoy a live music concert or are heading to any other place/event that attracts mass gathering, you can only take along a clear bag of a specific size. Opaque bags are banned at such places. This rule has been introduced as a part of the enhanced security measures being taken by the government.
Clear Bag Policy Specifications
As per this policy, each person can carry only one bag. The bag must be made of plastic, vinyl or PVC. Bags made of any other material are not allowed inside the stadiums, auditoriums and other places that host big events. Moreover, the bag should not be bigger than 12″ * 6″ * 12″.
The policy has been introduced owing to the increasing number of terrorist and criminal activities at crowded places. Clear fanny pack, backpack and other clear bags offer a clear view of the items kept inside the bag and thus ease and speed up the security check procedure and enhance security. You can, however, carry an opaque clutch inside your clear bag to carry personal items. Specifications about the dimensions of the permitted clutch are also clearly mentioned in the policy. The items in the clutch will be thoroughly checked before allowing it inside.
Items Permitted Inside
Some of the common things you can carry inside include cameras, binocular, small video cameras, tablets and laptops. However, these should all be carried without their case. Hand held radios, phones, keys, empty reusable plastic water bottles, infant feeding suppliers and seat cushions and chair backs (without zippers and pockets) can also be taken inside.
You are not allowed to carry alcoholic beverages, balls, cans, hydration packs, fireworks, knives, guns, laser pointers, smoking products, banners, flags and certain other items. To get detailed information about the items that are not allowed inside you can check the list of prohibited items shared by the stadium you are heading to.
The approved clear bags are checked at the entry. You must ensure that you do not bring along anything that is prohibited in the premises. Those with bags and items that do not conform to the policy will have to return them to their vehicles. Many stadiums have bag check-in stations. Guests that do not have a vehicle can empty the bag at the station and leave it there. They can, however carry the approved items inside in a clear gallon size freezer bag with zipper. The bag and the belongings of the guests are kept safe in the check in station and can be collected post the event.
Many people are seen arguing with the authorities at the security check points and convincing them to allow certain objects as well as bags that do not conform to the policy. This kind of behaviour is not expected from educated citizens. We need to understand that the policy has been established for public safety. We must adhere to it for our own safety as well as that of our fellow citizens.
