Changing the world may sound like a big task and may seem like something one person alone cannot do. But if everybody works together and commits to doing some small things, it can make a big difference. If you are ever feeling small or unimportant, remember that there are so many little things you can do that will have lasting positive effects. Here are 4 things you (yes, you) can do to change the world.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
At this point in time, recycling should be like second nature to you. There is really no excuse for anyone to not be recycling as it is such an easy thing to do, and it’s free. But did you know that you can also contribute to a better planet by reducing your use of single-use items and replacing them with something more environmentally friendly? For example, use reusable glass vessels to hold pills, soaps, shampoos, etc. instead of plastic bottles that will be thrown out. You can also use biodegradable plastics instead of traditional plastics which do not break down and can end up polluting the earth and its oceans.
Be Kind
Being kind to others takes every little effort, is completely free of charge, and is one of the most important things you can do to make the world a better place for everyone. Start by practicing kindness towards yourself, your family, and others you know. Once you have this mastered, be kind to every stranger you meet. Remember that kindness doesn’t have to mean loaning someone money or doing them a huge favor. It can be something as simple as a smile, a compliment, or letting someone cut you in line. A small act of kindness can turn around someone’s day or even life and kindness is contagious!
Find Your Passion
Finding out what you are passionate about is important in your personal journey of self-discovery and happiness, but it can also help to change the world! No matter how small or niche your passion is, having something you truly care about will help you to talk to and educate others about it with ease. It will also enable you to make small changes wherever you see fit, and small changes in the world can definitely lead to big ones.
Vote
Voting is important no matter where you live, and it is your right as a citizen. Don’t throw away your voice by opting not to vote, even if you feel that the matters being voted on won’t affect your life directly. Vote for what and who you believe in. Change sometimes takes time, but be patient and don’t allow others to make decisions for you.
Once you realize that changing the world is not something that’s out of your reach, you may gain a whole new lease on life and have a new fire underneath you. Remember that even the smallest changes have to happen in order to pave the way for larger ones and have faith that you are very important to this world.
