Dubai travel guide for first timers

December 22, 2020 by Rachel Leave a Comment

If this is your first trip to Dubai, well, gear up as you are in for an unforgettable experience. You have indeed heard a lot about the wonderful tourist city-state and just can’t wait for your holiday to start. But before you plan, it is essential to do some research and get some useful information as a first timer in Dubai.

Visa and travel need
Unless you have a US passport, you will need a visa to go to Dubai. It is very simple and easy to get a visa, and one can do that on arrival. There are plenty of flight booking offers that come with a tourist visa and insurance for maximum benefits.

The flights and deals
Some of the most popular airlines among travelers are Emirates airlines and Spicejet, and others. Enjoy Spicejet flight tickets with some of the best deals and offers and make some good savings. They also offer free layovers in Dubai, and many tourists are taking advantage of those offers.

When to visit
Plan your trip during the winter months from November to March when the temperatures are cooler. However, expect lots of crowds as these are the peak tourist months for the city. Avoid the months from June to August when the temperatures are soaring.

Where to stay
There is no shortage of accommodation choices, and Dubai has loads of options for all kinds of travelers. You can stay in the most luxurious hotels or the budget hostels, based on your budget and preferences, or you can also explore rental sites. The most central location is around the Dubai mall, which is closer to the Burj Khalifa.

Moving around
Just like any tourist city, there is a lot of traffic in Dubai and especially during the workdays. There are taxis, private rental cars, and metros that can be used to move from one place to another. The Dubai Metro system is clean, and regular taxi cabs are more popular for the best prices. Hop-On/Hop-Off Buses are another great way to see and explore Dubai.

What to Wear
You can wear regular clothes when on a trip to Dubai. Just keep in mind the conservative culture in the United Arab Emirates, and you might have to wear hijab and abaya when vesting a mosque. The women should keep their shoulders covered while dining in restaurants.

What to do and see
Some of the must-see sights in Dubai include the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and the Dubai Fountains. Explore the Madinat Jumeriah complex that is made of restaurants, bars, shopping malls, and waterways. Head to Dubai Creek to have a look at the older side of the city or take an excursion out in the deserts.

Where and What to eat
Dubai is famous for its multicultural scenes, and you can dig in at almost every possible cuisine here. Still, it is a good idea to taste the local delicacies at popular restaurants as you take a tour of Old Dubai. Take advantage of the fantastic food itineraries planned for the tourists and the melting pot of cuisines in the city.
